Government supports Airways New Zealand with a $70m package

The traffic drop caused by the Corona virus directly impacts the financial revenue of ANSPs, which the costs remain mostly unchanged. Even in countries with privatised ANSPs, governments will have no other choice than financially support them. CANSO already urged states for inclusion of ATC in recovery plans.


The first case of state support has been communicated as a $70 million support package for Airways announced today by the Minister of Transport Phil Twyford will ensure the stability of New Zealand’s air traffic management services through the COVID-19 pandemic.
